Sr. Software Engineer (Cloud Networking)

Job Description

The company seeks a highly motivated, network focused software engineer to help develop and create  cloud products. As a member of the cloud engineering team, you will be actively involved with various technologies related to distributed systems, virtualization, complex networking, data storage/caching and large scale systems administration. All team members will be encouraged to actively collaborate with open source development teams. You will work in a focused, collaborative agile team environment that values individual talent and the ability to communicate and learn.

Responsibilities

- Be the technical lead in designing and scaling a robust, highly available, multiple location network for cloud offerings
- Act as a domain expert for networking issues with the cloud engineering team
- Collaborate with  developers to improve the scalability and robustness of  products

Required Skills

- Expert understanding of L2/L3 routing and network protocols/concepts: BGP, OSPF, STP, LACP, ECMP, TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6
- Experience configuring enterprise level switches/routers: Cisco, HP Procurve, Arista, Juniper
- Thorough understanding of network security protocols: IPsec, OpenVPN, SSL/TLS
- Expert knowledge of Linux iptables or similar packet filtering tools
- Proven experience configuring and debugging bridged and bonded interfaces in Linux
- Experience implementing highly-available, robust networks and/or network-based services

Desired Skills

- Experience running Zebra/Quagga routing software
- Experience with virtualization hypervisors (KVM, Xen, VMWare)
- Experience using agile software development methodologies and processes
- Familiarity with the OpenStack Nova and Swift projects
- Understanding of issues in scaling network applications and tools across hundreds of systems
- Experience with zero configuration technologies such as mDNS, Bonjour or Avahi
- Experience with message queueing architectures such as Active MQ, AMQP, rabbitMQ
- Experience implementing / maintaining Wide Area Networks (WAN)
